As we get toward the ski season, I look forward to sharing ski tips and tuning tips from my years of experience in the sport. Meanwhile, as the snow starts to fly here at Rose, I thought it was a great time to share our coaches Bios with everyone!
Chuck Harris: Head Coach/ Program Director with the Falcons
Chuck is a USSA Nationally Certified Coach (level 400). He is also one of the Senior Alpine Officials throughout the Far West Region. Currently Chuck is also the Coaches Chair to the Far West Alpine Competition Committee. In addition to his vast accomplishments and US credentials he holds the title Instructor National de Argentina where he coached for over 13 years. Highlighting his coaching career was a trip to the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, UT where he served as Argentina Men’s Olympic Super G/Downhill head coach.
Jeff Thomsen: J3 Lead Coach
Jeff returns as J3 lead coach following a motorcycle mishap. Jeff is a USSA level 200 coach and former member of the Sierra Summit ski team. Over the last few years Jeff has guided several athletes to the Junior Olympics.
Tara Moore: J4/5 Lead Coach
Tara is truly our rock star. In addition to being a USSA level 200 coach she is also a PSIA examiner. Tara has expertise in building advanced skiing and racing techniques and motivating athletes. Tara’s experience includes not just J4/5 team but she was also a Far West J1/2 Junior Olympic coach.
Jim Najima: LTF Lead Coach
Jim joined the falcons program after working at the ski school. He is a Full Cert PSIA instructor with close to 20 yrs of experience here at Mt. Rose. He is in charge of our Learn To Fly Program and guiding our youngest ski racers to new and exciting levels of skiing.
