Athlete Code of Conduct Message
Team Falcons athletes are representatives of Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe and the Nevada Youth Ski Education Foundation (NYSEF) and must conduct themselves in a mature, considerate, responsible, safe and sportsmanlike manner at all times, both on and off the hill, at training, races or other organized activities, whether at Mt. Rose, another venue, or on the way to or from any organized activity at another venue or ski area. This generally includes, but is not limited to:
Courtesy and respect for coaches, teammates, fellow athletes, competition officials, ski area employees, and the general public.
Respect for all equipment, facilities and private property.
No profane or abusive language, abstinence from illegal possession or use of alcohol and drugs, respect for privileges, and attendance of organized activities.
When participating in a sanctioned race or activity, Team Falcons athletes are responsible for knowing and adhering to the sanctioning organization's rules and procedures and code of conduct. Examples of sanctioning organizations include but are not limited to FIS, USSA, Far West, Tahoe League Race Series and Buddy Werner. The combination of helmets, uniforms, and aggressive skiing and snowboarding make all athletes extremely visible to the general public. Having a race program is a privilege, which could be severely limited or eliminated due to inappropriate conduct.
General Rules
Be prepared and be on time. If you cannot be on time, be early. Notify your coach or Team Falcons office of absences or variations from pre-determined schedules.
All athletes must wear a helmet and have a lift pass at all times while training and any time when wearing a Team Falcons uniform.
Dress appropriately for the weather. It is always better to be too warm than too cold.
Ski and ride safely and in control. The general public must always come first.
Adhere to all ski area rules at all times.
Ski and ride slowly in crowded areas – fast skiing and riding is invariably interpreted as dangerous, regardless of the fact that you may be skiing and snowboarding safely and in perfect control.
Assist with and participate in fund raising activities as much as possible.
The coaches’ office is off-limits unless specifically invited in by a coach.
